Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of point application therapy combined with Salmeterol assigned powder inhaler for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Methods:A total of 104 cases of patients with COPD were divided into the study group and the control group according to the random number table method, with 52 cases in each group. The study group was treated with point application therapy combined with Salmeterol assigned powder inhaler,and the control group was simply treated with Salmeterol assigned powder inhaler. The clinical effects were compared between the two groups; traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores, dyspnea degree, lung function, inflammatory responses and immune function in the two groups were compared before and after treatment. Results: After treatment,the total effective rate was 94.23% in the study group,higher than that of 80.77% in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores and dyspnea degree in modified Medical Research Council (mMRC) scores in the two groups were decreased (P<0.05), and the scores in the study group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, forced vital capacity (FVC),the percentage of forced expiratory volume in the first second to the expected value (FEV1%) and FEV1/FVC in the two groups were increased (P<0.05), and the indexes in the study group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment,the levels of interleukin-8 (IL- 8) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in serum in the two groups were decreased,and the levels in the study group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the T lymphocyte subsets of CD4+ and CD4+/CD8+ in the study group were increased (P<0.05),and CD8+ was decreased (P< 0.05);there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the values of CD4+,CD8+,and CD4+/CD8+ before and after treatment in the control group (P>0.05). Conclusion:Point application therapy combined with Salmeterol assigned powder inhaler has a significant curative effect in the treatment of COPD,which can alleviate clinical symptoms,reduce dyspnea and inflammatory responses,and improve lung function and immune function.
