Clinical Study on Transcutaneous Electrical Point Stimulation Combined with Foot Bath for Postpartum Body Pain of Cold Congealing and Blood Stasis Type
Abstract: Objective: To observe the effect of transcutaneous electrical point stimulation combined with foot bath on postpartum body pain of cold congealing and blood stasis type. Methods : A total of 90 patients with postpartum body pain of cold congealing and blood stasis type were selected and divided into the point group, the foot bath group and the combination group according to the random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. The point group was treated with transcutaneous electrical point stimulation;the foot bath group was treated with foot bath, and the combination group was treated with transcutaneous electrical point stimulation combined with foot bath. The clinical effects and adverse reactions of the three groups were compared, and the changes of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores, Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), the MOS 36-Item Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36), and serum indexes [prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α), β -endorphin (β -EP)] were compared before and after treatment between the three groups. Results: The total effective rate was 96.67% in the combination group, higher than those in the point group and the foot bath group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the TCM syndrome scores in the three groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the TCM syndrome scores in the combination group were lower than those in the foot bath group and the point group (P<0.05). After treatment, the VAS scores in the three groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the SF-36 scores were increased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05); the VAS score in the combination group was lower than those in the point group and the foot bath group (P<0.05), and the SF-36 score was higher than those in the point group and the foot bath group (P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of PGE2 and β-EP in the three groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the PGF2α levels were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05);the levels of PGE2 and β-EP in the combination group were higher than those in the point group and the foot bath group (P<0.05),and the level of PGF2α was lower than that in the point group and the foot bath group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions among the three groups (P>0.05). Conclusion:The therapy of transcutaneous electrical point stimulation combined with foot bath has a definite curative effect on patients with postpartum pain of cold congealing and blood stasis type, which can improve their clinical symptoms, reduce pain, improve quality of life, and enhance uterine endocrine hormone content, with great safety.
