Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of modified Gegen Qinlian Decoction combined with western medicine for children with rotavirus enteritis with damp-heat syndrome, as well as its effect on myocardial enzymes. Methods: A total of 180 cases of children with rotavirus enteritis with damp-heat syndrome were selected and divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method, with 90 cases in each group. The control group received symptomatic treatment with western medicine, and the observation group received modified Gegen Qinlian Decoction based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for five days. The levels of myocardial enzymes and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores before and after treatment as well as the clinical effects and symptom disappearance time were compared between the two groups. Results : After five days of treatment, the total effective rate was 94.44% in the observation group, higher than that of 84.44% in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). The disappearance time of diarrhea, fever, vomiting, dehydration, and negative conversion time of fecal RV in the observation group were shorter than those in the control group, differences being significant (P<0.05). After five days of treatment, the levels of creatine kinase (CK),creatine kinase-MB (CK-MB),aspartate aminotransferase (AST),lactate dehydrogenase (LDH),and α-hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase (α-HBDH) in serum in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment, and the levels of the above five myocardial enzyme indicators in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, differences being significant (P<0.05). After five days of treatment, the frequency of bowel movements, bloating in the epigastric region, thirst and restlessness, fatigue and lack of strength, and loss of appetite in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment, and the above five TCM syndrome scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, differences being significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: Modified Gegen Qinlian Decoction combined with western medicine can quickly alleviate the symptoms and signs of children with rotavirus enteritis with damp-heat syndrome, shorten the disease course, and reduce myocardial damage.
