Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of Bailing Tablets combined with conventional western medicine for chronic glomerulonephritis (CGN) and its effect on levels of β2 microglobulin (β2-MG)， cystatin C (Cys-C)， and retinol-binding protein (RBP) in serum. Methods： A total of 82 CGN patients of lung-kidney qi deficiency type were divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the random number table method， with 82 cases in each group. The control group was given conventional western medicine treatment such as oral administration of Losartan Potassium， and the treatment group was treated with Bailing Tablets based on the treatment of the control group. After 12 weeks of treatment， the clinical effects ， traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores ， and levels of kidney function indicators [serum creatinine (SCr)， blood urea nitrogen (BUN)， 24-hour urine protein (24hUpro)， glomerular filtration rate (GFR)] and β2-MC， Cys-C and RBP in serum were compared between the two groups. Results：After treatment，the total effective rate was 95.12% in the treatment group，and 80.49% in the control group，the difference being significant (P＜0.05). After treatment，the TCM syndrome scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)， and the TCM syndrome scores in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment，the levels of SCr，BUN，and 24hUpro in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the levels of GFR were increased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)；the levels of SCr，BUN，and 24hUpro in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05)， and the level of GFR was higher than that in the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment，the levels of β2-MG，Cys-C，and RBP in serum were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the above three indicators in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). Conclusion： Bailing Tablets combined with conventional western medicine has a definite curative effect in treating CGN of lung-kidney qi deficiency type， which can effectively alleviate clinical symptoms ， lower levels of β2-MG ， Cys-C ， and RBP in serum ， reduce 24-hour urinary protein excretion and improve kidney function.
