Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of the therapy of acupoint application with Evodiae Fructus at Yongquan point (KI1) combined with ultrasonic gas atomization on patients after receiving surgery for chronic sinusitis (CRS). Methods：A total of 222 CRS patients receiving endoscopic sinus surgery as the study objects were divided into the control group and the combination group according to the random number table method， with 111 cases in each group. The control group was given ultrasonic gas atomization for treatment， and the combination group was additionally treated with acupoint application with Evodiae Fructus at Yongquan point based on the treatment of the control group. After seven days of treatment， the clinical effects， scores of primary symptoms， levels of serum inflammatory factors， including procalcitonin (PCT) and tumor necrosis factor- α (TNF- α)， and changes of nasal ventilatory function， including nasal cavity volume (NCV) and nasal minimal cross-sectional area (NMCA) were compared between the two groups. Results：After treatment，the total effective rate was 91.89% in the combination group and 81.98% in the control group， the difference being significant (P＜0.05). After treatment，the scores of symptoms，including running nose，nasal obstruction，headache and hyposmia in both groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the scores of the above symptoms in the combination group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment，the levels of serum TNF-α and PCT in both groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)， and the above two levels in the combination group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment，the levels of NMCA and NCV in both groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the above two levels in the combination group were higher than those in the control group (P＜0.05). Conclusion：The therapy of acupoint application with Evodiae Fructus at Yongquan point combined with ultrasonic gas atomization has a significant curative effect on patients after receiving CRS surgery，which can mitigate the clinical symptoms，inhibit the inflammatory responses and promote the recovery of nasal ventilatory function.
