Abstract:Objective:To observe the curative effect of catgut embedment in acupoint on moderate to severe mammary gland hyperplasia (MGH). Methods:A total of 72 patients with moderate to severe MGH were selected and randomly divided into the control group and the observation group, with 36 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Xiaojin Pills orally, and the observation group was treated with twisted and rotated poly p-dioxanone (PPDO) catgut embedment in acupoint. Both groups were treated continuously for eight weeks and followed up for three months. The clinical effects were compared between the two groups. The changes in breast pain scores, breast lump size, and emotional scores [Hamilton Anxiety Scale 14 (HAMA), and Hamilton Depression Scale 17 (HAMD)] were compared before and after treatment. Results: The total effective rate was 90.63% in the observation group, and 63.64% in the control group, the intergroup comparison showed that the difference being significant (P<0.05). There was significant difference in breast pain scores between the two groups at different time points in terms of time factors and time point interaction factors (P<0.05). After treatment and during the follow-up period, the breast pain scores in the two groups were reduced when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the breast pain scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group at the same time period (P<0.05). There was significant difference in the breast lump size between the two groups at different time points in terms of time factors, inter group factors, and time point interaction factors (P< 0.05). After treatment and during the follow-up period, the breast lump size in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the breast lump size in the observation group was smaller than that in the control group at the same time period (P<0.05). There was significant difference in HAMA and HAMD scores between the two groups at different time points in terms of time factors, inter group factors, and time point interaction factors (P<0.05). After treatment and during follow-up,the HAMA and HAMD scores in both groups were declined when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the HAMA and HAMD scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group at the same time period (P<0.05). Conclusion:Catgut embedment in acupoint has a good curative effect in treating moderate to severe MGH,which can alleviate breast pain, reduce the lump size, and improve the patient's mood.
