Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of mild moxibustion combined with acupoint massage on diabetic osteoporosis (DOP). Methods:A total of 74 cases of DOP patients were selected and divided into the control group and the combination group according to the random number table method, with 37 cases in each group. The control group was given Alfacalcidol Soft Capsules, and the combination group was additionally treated with mild moxibustion combined with acupoint massage based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for two months. The clinical effects and the occurrence of adverse reactions in the two groups were compared;traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores, bone metabolism biochemical indexes and pain factors in the two groups were compared before and after treatment;the degree of osteodynia after treatment, after one-month treatment and after twomonth treatment was compared between the two groups. Results: The total clinical effective rate was 94.59% in the combination group, higher than that of 78.38% in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the score in the combination group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). After one month and two months of treatment, the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) scores of pain in the two groups were gradually decreased (P<0.05), and the score in the combination group was lower than that in the control group at the same time point (P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of serum calcium (Ca), serum phosphorus (P), alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and fasting urinary calcium/creatinine (U-Ca/Cr) in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the levels in the combination group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05); the bone mineral density (BMD) in the two groups was increased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the BMD in the combination group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), 5-hydroxytryptamine (5- HT) and Substance P (SP) in serum in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the above levels in the combination group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion: Mild moxibustion combined with acupoint massage has a good curative effect on DOP,which can improve the traditional Chinese medicine symptoms of patients and relieve pain, with good safety.
