Clinical Study on Chinese Medicine Collapse Stains Combined with Original Qi- Returning Moxibustion for Knee Osteoarthritis with Syndrome of Cold-Damp Obstructing Collaterals
Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of Chinese medicine collapse stains combined with original qi-returning moxibustion on knee osteoarthritis (KOA) with syndrome of cold-damp obstructing collaterals. Methods: A total of 88 cases of KOA patients with syndrome of cold-damp obstructing collaterals were divided into the control group and the treatment group by simple randomization , with 44 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Diclofenac Sodium Sustained-Release Tablets, and the treatment group was additionally treated with Chinese medicine collapse stains combined with original qi-returning moxibustion based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for two courses, 14 days being a course. The clinical effects and the scores of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome, Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and Western Ontario and McMaster University Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results: After two courses of treatment, the total effective rate was 93.18% in the treatment group, higher than that of 77.27% in the control group (P<0.05). After two courses of treatment, the TCM syndrome scores in the two groups were reduced when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the TCM syndrome score in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). After one course of treatment, the VAS scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the VAS score in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). After two courses of treatment, the VAS scores in the two groups were lower than those after one course (P<0.05), and the VAS score in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). After two courses of treatment, the scores of joint pain, joint stiffness and joint function, and total scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the above scores in the treatment group were reduced when compared with those in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion:Chinese medicine collapse stains combined with original qi-returning moxibustion has a good clinical effect on KOA with syndrome of cold-damp obstructing collaterals, which can effectively relieve clinical symptoms and improve knee joint function.
