Abstract: Objective: To investigate the effect of ultrasound drug penetration with Xingqi Huoxue Prescription combined with extracorporeal shock wave on carpal tunnel syndrome. Methods: A total of 66 cases with mild-to-moderate carpal tunnel syndrome with syndrome of qi stagnation and blood stasis were selected as the research objects,and were divided into the control group and the trial group according to random number table method, with 33 cases in each group. Both groups were treated with extracorporeal shock wave therapy, and the trial group was additionally treated with ultrasonic drug penetration with Xingqi Huoxue Prescription. The treatment course in both groups was four weeks. The Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) scores of median nerve dominate regional pain of hands,Boston Carpal Tunnel Questionnaire (BCTQ) scores [Functional State Scale (FSS) and Symptom Severity Scale (SSS)], and the median nerve electrophysiological indexes [distal motor latency (DML),sensory conduction velocity (SCV), and sensory nerve action potential (SNAP)] were compared between the two groups before and after treatment.The adverse reactions were observed during treatment,and the clinical effects were compared between the two groups. Results: After treatment, the total effective rate in the trial group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05).The VAS scores in the two groups were lower than those before treatment (P<0.05). The VAS score in the trial group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). The SSS score and FSS scores were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05). The SSS score and FSS score in the trial group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05).The DML of median nerve in the two groups were respectively shortened when compared with those before treatment,and the SCV of median nerve were accelerated and the SNAP of median nerve were increased when compared with those before treatment,differences being significant (P<0.05).The DML of median nerve in the trial group was shorter than that in the control group,the SCV of median nerve was faster than that in the control group, and the SNAP of median nerve was higher than that in the control group, differences being significant (P<0.05).Conclusion:The therapy of ultrasonic drug penetration with Xingqi Huoxue Prescription combined with extracorporeal shock wave can effectively relieve median nerve dominate regional pain of hands in patients with mild-to-moderate carpal tunnel syndrome with syndrome of qi stagnation and blood stasis,and enhance the function of hands.
