Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of walnut moxibustion with Yangyin Runmu Prescription combined with Sodium Hyaluronate Eye Drop on xerophthalmia. Methods:A total of 64 cases of patients with xerophthalmia were selected and divided into the treatment group and the control group with 32 cases respectively according to random number table method. The control group was treated with Sodium Hyaluronate Eye Drop,and the treatment group was treated with walnut moxibustion with Yangyin Runmu Prescription combined with Sodium Hyaluronate Eye Drop. The clinical effects in the two groups were compared; the changes in Schirmer's Test (SIT), lower tear meniscus height (LTMH) average, noninvasive breakup time (NIBUTav), Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI), corneal fluorescin average staining scores (FL),meibomian gland scores and palpebral sebum trait scores before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results:After treatment,the values of SIT and NIBUTav in the two groups, as well as the LTMH value in the treatment group, showed significant differences when compared before and after treatment (P<0.05); the values of SIT, LTMH and NIBUTav in the treatment group were higher than those in the control group,differences being significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the OSDI scores,palpebral sebum trait scores in the two groups,and the FL score in the treatment group showed significant differences when compared before and after treatment (P<0.05); OSDI score and FL score in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). The total effective rate of clinical effect was 86.67% in the treatment group, and the total effective rate was 56.67% in the control group, the difference between the two groups being significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: Walnut moxibustion with Yangyin Runmu Prescription combined with Sodium Hyaluronate Eye Drop has a good clinical effect in the treatment of xerophthalmia,which can improve tear secretion and film stability and relieve clinical symptoms.
