Abstract： Professor ZHANG Xuewen believes that the pathogenesis of novel coronavirus infections with cough lies in the binding of toxic pathogen and dampness，the internal generation of phlegm pathogen， and the lung failing to diffuse and govern descent which leads to the constraint and stagnation of the lung meridian qi or the stagnation of the lung meridian blood．The treatment should be based on the theory of toxic and focused on the detoxification and the management of the lungs to stop cough，using the methods of clearing heat and detoxifying，detoxifying by diffusing and venting，removing turbidity and detoxifying， and reinforcing healthy qi and detoxifying，as well as the methods of diffusing and descending the lung qi to stop cough，rectifying qi to resolve constraint，and invigorating blood to resolve constraint，thus achieving remarkable therapeutic effects.
