Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of the articular injection with Zhengqing Fengtongning on acute phase of wrist joint lesions of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Methods: A total of 60 cases of patients with acute phase of wrist joint lesions of RA were selected and divided into the observation group and the control group by random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Methotrexate Tablets, Leflunomide Tablets, Folic Acid Tablets and Celecoxib Tablets, and the observation group was additionally treated with articular injection with Zhengqing Fengtongning based on the treatment of the control group. The treatment course of both groups was 60 days. The wrist synovial thickness and the levels of interleukin (IL)-1,IL-10 and vascular endothelial growth factors (VEGF) were compared between the two groups. Results:After treatment, the wrist synovial thickness in both groups were thinned when compared with those before treatment, and the wrist synovial thickness in the observation group was thinner than that in the control group, differences being significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of IL-1 and VEGF in both groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment, and the levels of IL-1 and VEGF in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, differences being significant (P<0.05). The IL-10 levels in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment, and the IL-10 level in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, differences being significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: Articular injection with Zhengqing Fengtongning can effectively reduce the wrist synovial thickness of patients with acute phase of wrist joint lesions of RA, and its mechanism may be related to inhibiting inflammatory responses and VEGF expression.
