Abstract： Objective： To observe the effect of acupuncture combined with Low Molecular Weight Heparin Calcium on preventing the formation of lower extremity deep venous thrombosis (LEDVT) after hip arthroplasty. Methods： A total of 60 cases of patients who would undergo hip arthroplasty were selected and divided into the trial group and the control group according to the random number table method，with 30 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Low Molecular Weight Heparin Calcium，and the trial group was additionally treated with acupuncture based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for two weeks continuously. The incidence of LEDVT，coagulation indexes [activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT)，prothrombin time (PT)，fibrinogen (FIB) and D-dimer (D-D)] and Harris hip joint function scores were compared between the two groups. Results：After two weeks of treatment， the incidence of LEDVT in the trial group was 3.33%，which was lower than that of 20.00% in the control group，the difference being significant (P＜0.05). After two weeks of treatment，APTT and PT in the two groups were prolonged when compared with those in eight hours before surgery， and levels of FIB and D-D were decreased when compared with those in eight hours before surgery， differences being significant (P＜0.05)；APTT and PT in the trial group were longer than those in the control group，and the levels of FIB and D-D were lower than those in the control group，there being significant differences (P＜ 0.05). After two weeks of treatment and in three months after treatment， the Harris hip joint function scores in the two groups were elevated when compared with those on the day before surgery， and the score in the trial group was higher than that in the control group at the same time， with significant differences (P＜0.05). Conclusion：Acupuncture combined with Low Molecular Weight Heparin Calcium can effectively improve the coagulation indexes of patients after hip arthroplasty， prevent LEDVT formation， and promote the recovery of hip joint function， and its effect is better than that of simple therapy of low molecular weight heparin calcium.
