Effect of Chinese Medicine Characteristic Nursing Techniques Combined with ERAS Concept on Recovery of Gastrointestinal Function in Patients Undergoing Laparo⁃ scopic Radical Gastrectomy for Gastric Cancer
Abstract: Objective: To observe the effect of Chinese medicine characteristic nursing techniques combined with Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) concept on recovery of gastrointestinal function in patients undergoing laparoscopic radical gastrectomy for gastric cancer. Methods: A total of 86 cases of patients undergoing laparoscopic radical gastrectomy for gastric cancer were selected. According to the implementation time of Chinese medicine characteristic nursing techniques, 42 patients who received ERAS concept nursing from January 2022 to September 2022 were set as the control group , and 44 patients who received Chinese medicine characteristic nursing techniques combined with ERAS concept nursing from October 2022 to June 2023 were set as the Chinese medicine group. Compared the recovery time of gastrointestinal function, postoperative hospitalization time, postoperative pain degree [Visual Analogue Scale (VAS)], nutritional risk [Nutritional Risk Screening (NRS-2002) score], incidence of complications, and nursing satisfaction between the two groups. Results:The time of first anal exhaust, first defecation, recovery of bowel sounds, and postoperative hospitalization in the Chinese medicine group were all shorter than those in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). On postoperative days 1,2,and 3,the VAS scores in the Chinese medicine group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). On postoperative day 7, there was no significant difference in VAS scores between the two groups (P>0.05). After treatment, the NRS-2002 scores in both groups were raised when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the NRS-2002 score in the Chinese medicine group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). The incidence of complications was 9.09% in the Chinese medicine group, and 26.19% in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). The satisfaction rate of nursing care was 93.18% in the Chinese medicine group, and 76.19% in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: The combination of Chinese medicine characteristic nursing techniques and ERAS concept can promote the recovery of patients undergoing laparoscopic radical gastrectomy for gastric cancer, shorten gastrointestinal function recovery and postoperative hospitalization time, effectively reduce nutritional risks and incidence of complications, and improve nursing satisfaction.
