Abstract: This is an introduction to the clinical experience of Chief Physician WANG Xiaoqi in treating refractory reflux esophagitis. WANG Xiaoqi believes that refractory reflux esophagitis falls under the category of acid regurgitation in Chinese medicine, emphasizing that liver qi constraint and stagnation is the core pathogenesis of contemporary acid regurgitation disease. Liver qi constraint and stagnation can both invade the stomach horizontally, directly affecting the stomach qi's function of descending, and can also transform into heat (fire) stagnation, phlegm (dampness) stagnation, food stagnation, and blood stagnation, exacerbating the upward reversal of stomach qi. Therefore, based on six constraints theory, he proposes the overall treatment principle of regulating qi as the foundation, considering other stagnations, and harmonizing the stomach as the goal. Regulating qi as the foundation focuses on soothing the liver and regulating qi, while considering other stagnations follows the principles of clearing heat and draining fire for heat (fire) stagnation, dissolving phlegm and dispelling dampness for phlegm (dampness) stagnation, promoting digestion and harmonizing the stomach for food stagnation, and moving qi and resolving stasis for blood stagnation. Harmonizing the stomach as the goal is achieved by combining acidsuppressing and downward-reversing drugs to reach the final treatment goal.
