Clinical Stduy on Combination Use of Scalp Acupuncture with Long-Time Needle- Retaining Method and Auricular Point Seed-Pressing for Insomnia of Liver Constraint Transforming into Fire Type
Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of combination use of scalp acupuncture with longtime needle-retaining method and auricular point seed-pressing on insomnia of liver constraint transforming into fire type. Methods:A total of 120 patients with insomnia of liver constraint transforming into fire type were divided into the control group A,the control group B and the trial group according to the random number table method, with 40 cases in each group. The control group A was treated with scalp acupuncture with long-time needle-retaining method, the control group B was treated with auricular point seed-pressing, and the trial group was treated with scalp acupuncture with long-time needle-retaining method combined with auricular point seed-pressing. All three groups were treated for four weeks. Compared the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores, scores of Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS) among the three groups before and after treatment. Compared the clinical effects and the incidence of adverse reactions among the three groups. Results: During the treatment, there were two cases being excluded in the control group A,one case in the control group B,and one case in the trial group. Finally,38 patients were included in the control group A,and 39 patients in the control group B and the trial group. After treatment, the total effective rate was 97.44% in the trial group, higher than that of 81.58% in the control group A and 76.92% in the control group B (P<0.05). After treatment, the TCM syndrome scores (primary symptoms, secondary symptoms and total scores),PSQI scores (sleep quality, sleep latency, sleep duration, sleep efficiency, sleep disorder, daytime function and total scores), SAS scores and SDS scores in the three groups were lower than those before treatment (P<0.05). The TCM syndrome scores, and scores of PSQI, SAS and SDS in the trial group were lower than those in the control group A and control group B (P<0.05). There was no significant difference being found in comparisons of TCM syndrome scores, and scores of PSQI, SAS and SDS between the control group A and the control group B after treatment (P>0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was respectively 5.26%, 2.56% and 5.12% in the control group A, the control group B and the trial group, there being no significance in the difference (P>0.05). Conclusion:The combination use of scalp acupuncture with long-time needle-retaining method and auricular point seedpressing has a significant curative effect on insomnia of liver constraint transforming into fire type, which can improve the sleep quality of patients, and mitigate the anxiety and depression with great safety.
