Clinical Study on Combination Use of Moxibustion on Governor Vessel and Fuzi Lizhong Pills for Diarrhea-Predominant Irritable Bowel Syndrome of Spleen-Kidney Yang Deficiency Type
Abstract:Objective:To observe the curative effect of the combination use of moxibustion on governor vessel and Fuzi Lizhong Pills on diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D) of spleen-kidney yang deficiency type. Methods: A total of 60 IBS-D patients of spleen-kidney yang deficiency type were divided into the trial group and the control group by the random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. Both groups were treated with Montmorillonite Powder; the control group was additionally treated with oral administration of Fuzi Lizhong Pills, and the trial group was additionally treated with moxibustion on governor vessel based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for four weeks. The clinical effects, traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores, scores of stool trait and levels of serum inflammatory factors were compared between the two groups. Results: After treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the total effective rate between the two groups (P>0.05). After treatment,the traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores and Bristol scores in the two groups were reduced when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05);the above scores in the trial group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of serum interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor- α (TNF- α) in the two groups were down-regulated when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the above two levels in the trial group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: The combination use of moxibustion on governor vessel and Fuzi Lizhong Pills has a significant curative effect on IBS-D of spleen-kidney yang deficiency type,which can improve the traditional Chinese medicine syndromes and clinical symptoms and inhibit the inflammatory responses.
