Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Juanbi Decoction combined with wrist-ankle acupuncture on external humeral epicondylitis and its influence on inflammatory factors. Methods:A total of 126 patients with external humeral epicondylitis diagnosed and treated in Wenzhou TCM Hospital of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University from December 2022 to October 2023 were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group, with 63 patients in each group. The control group was treated with wrist-ankle acupuncture, and the observation group was treated with Juanbi Decoction combined with wrist-ankle acupuncture. The clinical effects, scores of Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), Mayo Elbow Performance Scale (MEPS), Pain-Free Grip Strength (PFG) and levels of serum inflammatory factors [Creactive protein (CRP),tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α),interleukin-1β (IL-1β)] were compared between the two groups. Results:Three cases were excluded from both groups, and sixty cases were included in the statistics finally. After treatment, the VAS scores were decreased,MEPS scores and PFG value were increased in both groups when compared with those before treatment; the VAS score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group;the MEPS score and PFG value were higher than those in the control group, differences being significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the serum levels of CRP, TNF- α and IL-1β in both groups were lower than those before treatment, and the levels of CRP,TNF-α and IL-1β in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, differences being significant (P<0.05). The total effective rate was 93.33% in the observation group, and 80.00% in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: The therapy of modified Juanbi Decoction combined with wrist-ankle acupuncture can reduce the levels of inflammatory factors, promote the relief of pain, improve elbow joint function, enhance the grip strength of the affected limb, and have good clinical effect on the treatment of external humerus epicondylitis.
