Clinical Study on Chaishao Jieyu Pills Combined with Acupuncture at Periocular Acupoints for Ocular Hypertension of Liver Constraint and Qi Stagnation Type
Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of Chaishao Jieyu Pills combined with acupuncture at periocular acupoints on ocular hypertension (OHT) of liver constraint and qi stagnation type. Methods:A total of 100 cases of patients with OHT of liver constraint and qi stagnation type were selected and divided into two groups according to the random number table method, with 50 cases in each group. The control group was treated with acupuncture at periocular acupoints, and the observation group was treated with Chaishao Jieyu Pills in addition to the control group's treatment. The two groups were compared in terms of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores, intraocular pressure, best corrected visual acuity, hemodynamic indicators [ocular artery resistance index (RI),end-diastolic blood flow velocity (EDV),peak systolic blood flow velocity (PSV)],clinical effects, and recurrence rates. Results:The total effective rate was 98.00% in the observation group and 84.00% in the control group, the difference being significant (P< 0.05). After treatment, the scores of dizziness, eyeball pain, headache, vexation, agitation and irascibility, and fullness in chest and hypochondrium in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the intraocular pressure in the two groups was reduced when compared with that before treatment (P<0.05), and the best corrected visual acuity was increased (P< 0.05);the intraocular pressure in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05), and the best corrected visual acuity was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the ocular artery RI in the two groups were decreased (P<0.05), and the EDV and PSV were increased (P< 0.05);the RI in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05),and the EDV and PSV were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). After a two-month follow-up,the recurrence rate was 8.16% in the observation group and 26.19% in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: Chaishao Jieyu Pills combined with acupuncture at periocular acupoints can significantly improve the patients' TCM syndromes and ocular blood flow, decrease intraocular pressure, improve the best corrected visual acuity, and reduce recurrence.
