Abstract:Objective:To observe the effect of combination use of moxibustion and point application on pain and urinary function of patients after transuretheral resection of prostate (TURP) of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Methods: A total of 88 patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia treated by TURP were selected and divided into the routine group and combination group according to the random number table method, with 44 cases in each group. The routine group was treated with routine intervention such as pelvic floor muscle functional training, and the combination group was treated with moxibustion combined with point application on the basis of the routine group. Both groups were treated for two weeks. The changes of visual analogue scale (VAS) score, and levels of urinary function indexes [prostatic volume (PV) and maximum urine flow] and serum sex hormones [serum testosterone (T) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH)] were compared before and after intervention between the two groups. Results:After two weeks of intervention, the VAS scores in the two groups were lower than those before intervention and after one week of intervention (P<0.05),and the VAS score in the combination group was lower than that in the routine group at the same time point (P<0.05). After two weeks intervention, the PV level in the two groups was reduced when compared with that before intervention (P<0.05),and the maximum urine flow was up-regulated when compared with that before intervention (P<0.05);the PV level in the combination group was lower than that in the routine group (P<0.05),and the maximum urine flow was higher than that in the routine group (P<0.05). After two weeks intervention, the serum T levels in the two groups were elevated when compared with those before intervention (P<0.05),and the FSH level was dwindled when compared with that before intervention (P<0.05);the T level in the combination group was higher than that in the routine group (P<0.05),and the FSH level was lower than that in the routine group (P<0.05). During the intervention period, the incidence of complications was 6.82 % in the combination group and 9.09% in the routine group, there being no significance in the difference (P>0.05). Conclusion: The combination use of moxibustion and point application can effectively mitigate the post-TURP pain of patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia, and improve the urinary function and sex hormones.
