Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of acupoints massage with Wuwu Gancao Shengmo Ointment on the prevention and treatment of recurrent respiratory tract infection( RRTI) in children with cerebral palsy with lungspleen qi deficiency syndrome. Methods:A total of 60 cases of RRTI children with cerebral palsy with lung-spleen qi deficiency syndrome admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Henan University of Chinese Medicine from March 2022 to April 2023 were selected and divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. The observation group was treated with acupoint massage with Wuwu Gancao Shengmo Ointment, and the control group was given oral administration of Spleen Aminopeptide. The course of treatment was 8 weeks. The clinical effects and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores in the two groups were observed;the patients were followed up for 12 months, and the reduction in times of respiratory tract infection and the incidence of adverse reactions in the two groups were recorded. Results:The total effective rate was 93.33%(27/ 30) in the observation group and 63.33%( 19/30)in the control group, the difference being significant( P<0.05). After treatment, the TCM syndrome scores of aversion to wind, spontaneous sweating, shortness of breath, pale complexion, shortage of qi and disinclination to talk,no thought of food and drink, emaciation, and loose stools in the two groups were dwindled when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the above scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). After 12 months of follow-up, the times of respiratory tract infection in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05); the reduction in times of upper respiratory tract infection in the observation group was better than that in the control group( P<0.05),and there was no significant difference being found in the reduction in times of lower respiratory tract infection (tracheitis/bronchitis infection and pneumonia infection) between the two groups (P>0.05). During the treatment, there were no obvious adverse reactions in the two groups. Conclusion:The acupoints massage with Wuwu Gancao Shengmo Ointment can improve the clinical symptoms of recurrent respiratory tract infection in children with cerebral palsy with lung-spleen qi deficiency syndrome, and reduce the times of respiratory tract infection with a great long-term curative effect.
