Abstract: Theoretically, this study explores the pathological mechanisms of internal structural disorders of the temporomandibular joint from multiple perspectives, including modern needle knife medicine, vagus nerve stimulation, biomechanical dynamic balance, tension balance of the deep cervical fascia system, abnormal posture of the craniocervical mandibular system, and Chinese medicine theories of treating the spirit and meridian-sinew. Practically, the aim is to restore the physical and mental balance of patients with temporomandibular disorders. Initially, vagus nerve stimulation is employed to activate the vagus nerve, which helps regulate the emotional state of patients with temporomandibular disorders and inhibit the afferent response of deep pain. Subsequently, the needle knife "T" technique and local release-based anterior-posterior needle knife release method are used to adjust the abnormal tension of the deep cervical fascia system, restore the biomechanical balance of the temporomandibular joint, correct the abnormal posture of the craniocervical mandibular system, and promote the circulation of qi and blood in the neck and face, harmonizing yin and yang. Finally, case studies are presented to summarize the key points of needle knife application, providing insights into the diagnosis and treatment of temporomandibular disorders using needle knife therapy.
