Abstract:Objective:To investigate Chinese medicine constitution types of 1 500 compulsory drug rehabilitants, aiming to provide a basis for exploring the feasibility and standardization of Chinese medicine-based drug rehabilitation. Methods:A total of 1 500 drug rehabilitants who voluntarily participated in the survey from March 2019 to December 2020 in Guangdong Second Compulsory Isolation Drug Rehabilitation Center, Sanshui Compulsory Isolation Drug Rehabilitation Center, and Guangdong Female Compulsory Isolation Drug Rehabilitation Center,as well as 1 500 nondrug users who underwent health examinations in the Physical Examination Department of Sanshui Hospital of Foshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine during the same period, were selected as study subjects. Both groups filled out the Classification and Determination of Chinese Medicine Constitution, and Chinese Medicine constitution types of the two groups were analyzed to compare the differences in the distribution of Chinese medicine constitutions between the two groups. Results:The proportion of simple biased constitution was higher in compulsory drug rehabilitants than in non-drug users, while the proportion of balanced constitution was lower, the difference being significant (P<0.05). Among the 1 500 compulsory drug rehabilitants, 146 had balanced constitution and 1 354 had biased constitution. Among the 1 354 individuals with biased constitution, the three most common types were qi deficiency constitution, phlegm-damp constitution, and yin deficiency constitution. Among the 1 500 non-drug users, 742 had balanced constitution and 758 had biased constitution . Among the 758 individuals with biased constitution, the three most common types were damp-heat constitution,qi stagnation constitution, and phlegm-damp constitution. Conclusion: Targeted interventions based on the Chinese medicine constitution characteristics of compulsory drug rehabilitants can improve acute withdrawal symptoms during detoxification, promote dual physiological and psychological recovery, prevent the occurrence and development of corresponding diseases and reduce relapse rates.
