Effect of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound-Guided Warm Round Sharp Needle Acupuncture Combined with Traditional Warm Acupuncture of Three-Needle Therapy for the Shoulder on Pain and Shoulder Joint Function of Patients with Frozen Shoulder
Abstract: Objective: To observe the effect of the combination use of musculoskeletal ultrasound-guided warm round sharp needle acupuncture combined with traditional warm acupuncture of three-needle therapy for the shoulder on pain and shoulder joint function of patients with frozen shoulder. Methods:A total of 80 patients with frozen shoulder admitted to the Lanxi Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from september 2022 to January 2024 were selected as study objects and divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with traditional warm acupuncture of three-needle therapy, and the observation group was treated with musculoskeletal ultrasound-guided warm round sharp needle acupuncture. The two groups were treated for four weeks. The clinical effects, and pain degree [McGiLL Pain Questionnaire (MPQ)] and shoulder joint function [Constant-Murley Score (CMS)] before and after treatment were compared between the two groups;the safety evaluation was done during the treatment. Results:The total effective rate was 95.00% (38/40) in the observation group and 80.00%(32/40) in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). After treatment, each score in MPQ and total scores in the two groups were reduced when compared with those before treatment( P<0.05),and each score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group( P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of pain, muscle strength, joint mobility, and ability of daily living in CMS and the total scores in the two groups were elevated when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the above scores in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of safety grading between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion: The combination use of musculoskeletal ultrasound-guided warm round sharp needle acupuncture and traditional warm acupuncture of three-needle therapy for the shoulder can effectively reduce the pain degree of patients with frozen shoulder, and improve the shoulder joint function. The musculoskeletal ultrasound-guided warm round sharp needle acupuncture has a better curative effect.
