Abstract: This paper summarizes and introduces Professor LIU Jinwen's clinical experience in preventing and treating deep vein thrombosis (DVT) of the lower extremities after artificial joint replacement. Professor LIU believes that the pathogenesis of DVT after artificial joint replacement is due to disharmony between qi and blood, leading to blood stasis and blood mass. In clinical practice,he focuses on differentiating deficiency and excess, regulating qi and blood, and emphasizes strengthening the healthy qi and removing blood stasis, adjusting qi,blood, and body fluids, and promoting blood circulation, which can help resolving swelling pain. Differentiating deficiency and excess is to nourish qi and activate blood, thereby promoting vigorous qi and smoothing blood flow, removing blood stasis and unblocking the collaterals, all without damaging the body's healthy qi. At the same time, based on individual constitutions, emphasis is placed on prevention and treatment before and during surgery, as well as postoperative treatment, following the principle of syndrome differentiation prior to treatment.
