Abstract:Objective:To analyze the medication rules and use of toxic herbs in patented external Chinese herbal prescriptions for lumbar disc herniation based on data mining technology. Methods: The patent database of the National Intellectual Property Administration was searched to collect external Chinese herbal prescriptions for lumbar disc herniation from the establishment of the database to September 13,2023. Microsoft Excel 2019,SPSS Statistics 26,Cytoscape 3.8.2,and SPSS Modeler 18.0 were used for frequency analysis, association rule analysis, clustering analysis, drawing radar charts of four properties, five flavors, and channel entries, pie charts of Chinese herbal effects, and co-occurrence network diagrams. Results: A total of 134 patented prescriptions involving 429 Chinese medicinal herbs were included. The herbs with a frequency ≥ 40 included Carthami Flos, Myrrha, Olibanum, Speranskiae Tuberculatae Herba, Aconiti Radix, Chuanxiong Rhizoma and Angelicae Sinensis Radix. The highfrequency toxic herbs included Aconiti Radix, Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix, Eupolyphaga Steleophaga and Scoppio. In terms of four qi,the herbs were mainly warm;in terms of five flavors, they were mainly bitter and acrid, and in terms of channel entries, they mainly belonged to the liver channel, followed by the lung, spleen, and kidney channels. The toxic herbs were similar to the above. The main effects were dispelling wind-damp,clearing heat, invigorating blood and dissolving stasis, and supplementing deficiency. Association rule analysis showed that the pair "Myrrha→ Olibanum" had the highest support. Clustering analysis yielded four new prescriptions of Chinese herbs. Conclusion: External application of Chinese herbs for lumbar disc herniation mainly targets on blood stasis syndrome and cold-damp syndrome, with the main treatments being invigorating blood and dissolving stasis and dispelling wind-damp. It is combined by supplementing deficiency and clearing heat according to syndrome types, focusing on treating the branch.
