Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of the combination use of Changershu Prescription and acupoint application on laxative constipation of yang deficiency type and its effect on intestinal flora. Methods:A total of 90 patients with laxative constipation of yang deficiency type admitted to The First Affiliated Hospital of Henan University of Chinese Medicine from January 2021 to December2023 were selected as the study objects and divided into the Lactulose group and the Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) group according to the random number table method, with 45 cases in each group. The Lactulose group was treated with Lactulose Oral Solution, and the TCM group was treated with oral administration of Changershu Prescription combined with acupoint application. Both groups were treated for 14 days. The number of intestinal flora (bifidobacterium, lactobacillus, escherichia coli and enterococcus),and the scores of Wexner Continence Grading Scale and Patient Assessment of Constipation Quality of Life (PAC-QOL) were compared before and after treatment between the two groups. Results:After treatment, the scores of constipation symptoms and the TCM syndrome scores in the two groups were reduced (P<0.05),and the above scores in the TCM group were lower than those in the Lactulose group (P<0.05). After treatment, the count of bifidobacterium and lactobacillus in feces in the two groups was increased (P<0.05),and the count of bifidobacterium and lactobacillus in feces in the TCM group was higher than that in the Lactulose group (P<0.05). The count of escherichia coli and enterococcus in the two groups was down-regulated (P<0.05),and the count of escherichia coli and enterococcus in the TCM group was lower than that in the Lactulose group (P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of Wexner and PAC-QOL in the two groups were dwindled (P<0.05),and the above two scores in the TCM group were lower than those in the Lactulose group (P<0.05). The total effective rate was 97.78% (44/45) in the TCM group, higher than that of 82.22% (37/45) in the Lactulose group (P<0.05). Conclusion: The combination use of Changershu Prescription and acupoint application has a definite curative effect on laxative constipation of yang deficiency type, which can significantly improve the constipation symptoms and improve the quality of life of patients. Its mechanism may be related to the recovery of the balance of intestinal flora.
