Clinical Study on Medicated Bath with Yiqi Huoxue Tongbi Decoction Combined with Mecobalamin Tablets on Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy in Patients with Ovarian Cancer
Abstract: Objective: To observe the curative effect of medicated bath with Yiqi Huoxue Tongbi Decoction combined with Mecobalamin Tablets for chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) in patients after TC (paclitaxel+ carboplatin) regimen for ovarian cancer. Methods:A total of 90 cases of ovarian cancer patients who received TC chemotherapy and developed CIPN at Haining Hospital of Chinese Medicine from September 2021 to August 2023 were selected and randomly divided into the western medicine group and the combination group, with 45 patients in each group, according to random number table method. The western medicine group was treated with Mecobalamin Tablets, while the combination group was treated with medicated bath with Yiqi Huoxue Tongbi Decoction on the basis of the western medicine group. Compared the clinical efficacy and incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups, and compared the changes in peripheral neurotoxicity incidence and Karnofsky Performance Status( KPS) scores before and after treatment. Results:The total effective rate of clinical efficacy was 95.56%( 43/45) in the combination group, and 82.22% (37/45) in the western medicine group, the difference being significant (P< 0.05). After treatment, the incidence of peripheral neurotoxicity was 42.22%(19/45) in the western medicine group, and 15.56%(7/45) in the combination group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). After treatment, both groups showed an increase in KPS scores when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),with the combination group having a higher KPS score than the western medicine group (P<0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was 8.89%(4/ 45) in the western medicine group, and 4.44%(2/45) in the combination group, there being no significance in the difference (P>0.05). Conclusion: Yiqi Huoxue Tongbi Decoction combined with Mecobalamin Tablets can reduce the incidence rates of CIPN after TC chemotherapy for ovarian cancer, alleviate symptoms, improve quality of life, and have high safety.
