Abstract: Objective: To observe the curative effect of timed point application with Chenxiang Tongbian Ointment combined with auricular point seed-pressing on post-stroke constipation. Methods: A total of 150 poststroke constipation patients admitted to Ningbo Rehabilitation Hospital from January to December 2023 were randomly divided into the control group and the combination group, with 75 cases in each group, using a random number table method. Both groups received routine nursing. On this basis, the control group was given auricular point seed-pressing, and the combination group was given timed point application with Chenxiang Tongbian Ointment on the basis of the control group. After four weeks of intervention, the clinical efficacy and safety in the two groups were compared, and the changes in defecation scores, traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores,Wexner constipation scores,Bristol Stool Form Scale (BSFS) scores, and quality of life scores before and after intervention were compared between the two groups. Results: The total effective rate of clinical efficacy was 92.00%(69/75)in the combination group and 78.67%(59/75)in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). After intervention, the defecation interval time, defecation effort levels, and defecation intention scores in both groups were decreased when compared with those before intervention (P<0.05),and the combination group had lower scores in the above three items than the control group (P<0.05). After intervention, the traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores of bowel sounds, abdominal distension, fullness and oppression in hypochondrium, and constipation in the combination group were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores of the above four items in the combination group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). After intervention, the combination group showed a decrease in physiological discomfort, psychological discomfort, anxiety, satisfaction, and total score when compared with those before intervention (P<0.05),and the five quality of life scores in the combination group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). After intervention, both groups showed a decrease in Wexner and BSFS scores when compared with those before intervention (P<0.05),and the combination group had lower Wexner and BSFS scores than the control group (P<0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was 6.67%(5/75)in the combination group, and 2.67%(2/75)in the control group, there was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion: Timed point application with Chenxiang Tongbian Ointment combined with auricular point seed-pressing can improve post-stroke constipation, promote defecation, improve patients' quality of life, and have high safety.
