Abstract： Objective： To analyze the medication rules of CAI Weibin in treating cough through data mining techniques. Methods： Cough cases treated by CAI Weibin from January 2022 to April 2024 were retrieved. The screened medical records were preprocessed，and a database was established for those meeting the criteria. Systematic mining of the prescriptions was conducted using methods such as frequency analysis，association rule analysis， cluster analysis， and factor analysis. Results ： A total of 500 prescriptions were screened， involving 160 Chinese herbal medicines. The herbs with higher frequencies included Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma，Cicadae Periostracum，Perillae Folium， Peucedani Radix， Arctii Fructus， Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus， with herbal natures mainly warm and neutral，flavors mainly sweet，bitter，and acrid，and channel entries mainly the lung and liver meridians. Association rule analysis yielded 7 pairs of herbs and 10 groups of triplet-herb combinations. Five clustering prescriptions were obtained through systematic cluster analysis， and nine common factors were extracted through factor analysis. Conclusion： CAI Weibin combines disease differentiation with syndrome differentiation in clinically treating cough. The disease location of cough is the lung. On the one hand，the main treatment focuses on dispersing wind and diffusing the lung，and astringing the lung and descending qi；on the other hand，attention is paid to regulating the spleen and stomach and freeing the flow of liver qi， and removing dampness and resolving phlegm， promoting qi and relieving depression. Etiological treatment is emphasized，and balancing cold and heat is also focused on.
