Clinical Study on Hewei Antai Ointment Applied to Shenque Point Combined with Conventional Therapy for Hyperemesis Gravidarum of Spleen-Stomach Deficiency Type
Abstract: Objective: To observe the efficacy of Hewei Antai Ointment applied to Shenque (RN 8) point combined with conventional therapy in the treatment of hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) of spleen-stomach deficiency type. Methods:A total of 104 HG patients of spleen-stomach deficiency type, treated at Wenzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University from July 2022 to March 2024,were selected and randomly divided into the Chinese medicine group and the control group by random number table method, with 52 cases in each group. The control group received conventional modern medical therapy, while the Chinese medicine group received Hewei Antai Ointment applied to Shenque (RN 8) point in addition to the conventional therapy. The clinical efficacy, incidence of adverse reactions, and urine ketone body negative conversion rates were compared between the two groups. Changes in traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores and the Pregnancy-Unique Quantification of Emesis and Nausea (PUQE) scores before and after treatment were also evaluated. Results: The total clinical effective rate was 96.15% (50/52) in the Chinese medicine group, significantly higher than that of 80.77% (42/52) in the control group (P<0.05). After two treatment courses, the traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores for nausea and vomiting, fatigue, poor appetite, sallow complexion, and thin white tongue coating were decreased in both groups when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the Chinese medicine group had lower scores in these five items than the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the PUQE scores were decreased in both groups, and the Chinese medicine group had lower scores than the control group at the same time point (P<0.05). After two treatment courses, the urine ketone body negative conversion rate was 75.00% (39/52) in the control group, and 92.31% (48/ 52) in the Chinese medicine group, differences being significant (P<0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was 7.69% (4/52) in the control group, compared to 17.31% (9/52) in the Chinese medicine group, with no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion: Hewei Antai Ointment applied to Shenque (RN 8) point combined with conventional therapy is effective in treating HG of spleen-stomach deficiency type. It can alleviate nausea and vomiting symptoms, improve gastrointestinal function, and has high safety.
