Abstract:Objective:To study the medication rules of Professor PANG Dexiang in treating lung cancer from the theory of Chinese herbal natures and data mining techniques. Methods: Based on the outpatient medical records database of Professor PANG Dexiang at The Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, this study screened and organized information and prescriptions of lung cancer patients from January 2018 to December 2020. An Excel 2017 database was established for lung cancer prescriptions, and SPSS17.0 was used for statistical analysis of herbal names, natures, flavors, channel entry, and effect. A standardized medical case database was created via the Ancient and Modern Medical Case Cloud Platform (V2.3.5) for association analysis, cluster analysis, and complex network analysis. Results:A total of 457 Chinese herbal prescriptions, covering 246 Chinese herbal medicines with a total usage frequency of 9 066 times, were included. Medicines with neutral, warm, and cold natures were most frequently used;flavors mainly included sweet, acrid, and bitter;channel entry was mainly concentrated in the lung and spleen;and the effects were mainly focused on clearing heat and supplementing deficiency. There were 17 Chinese herbal medicines used more than 160 times, including Hordei Fructus Germinatus, Fagopyri Dibotryis Rhizoma, Coicis Semen,Codonopsis Radix,Astragali Radix,Poria,Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma,Crataegi Fructus, Fritillariae Thunbergii Bulbus, Massa Medicata Fermentata, Pinelliae Rhizoma, Armeniacae Semen Amarum, Ranunculi Ternati Radix, Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex, Salviae Chinensis Herba, Mori Cortex, and Euphoribiae Helioscopiae Herba. Association analysis of high-frequency Chinese herbal medicines resulted in 14 herbal pairs. Cluster analysis of high-frequency Chinese herbal medicines yielded five clusters. The core medicine combinations for treating lung cancer included Astragali Radix, Codonopsis Radix, Poria, Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, Coicis Semen,Fagopyri Dibotryis Rhizoma,Euphoribiae Helioscopiae Herba,Salviae Chinensis Herba,Mori Cortex, Fritillariae Thunbergii Bulbus, Armeniacae Semen Amarum, Ranunculi Ternati Radix, Pinelliae Rhizoma, Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex, Lycii Cortex, and Hordei Fructus Germinatus. Conclusion: Professor PANG Dexiang pointed out that the core pathogenesis of lung cancer lies in depletion of healthy qi and internal accumulation of phlegmtoxin. Treatment follows the principles of banking up earth to generate metal, dissolving phlegm and resolving toxins. Chinese herbal medicines are mainly used to clear heat and supplement deficiency, assisted by those that dissolve phlegm and dissipate masses, relieve cough and panting, and invigorate blood and dispel stasis. The core prescriptions are modified Sijunzi Decoction and self-prescribed Feijinsheng Prescription.
