Effect of Auricular Point Thumb-Tack Needling on Mental Status and Sleep Quality in Patients with Mental Disorders Following Voriconazole Treatment for Pulmonary Infection
Abstract:Objective:To observe the effect of auricular point thumb-tack needling on the mental status and sleep quality of patients with mental disorders following Voriconazole treatment for pulmonary infection. Methods:A total of 60 cases of patients with mental disorders after Voriconazole treatment for pulmonary infection, admitted to Hangzhou Red Cross Hospital from January 2022 to May 2024, were selected and divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. The control group was given routine antipsychotic interventions, and the observation group was additionally treated with auricular point thumb-tack needling based on the treatment of the control group. Changes in the scores of Confusion Assessment Method (CAM), Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA), Miller Scale, and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index( PSQI) before and after intervention were compared between the two groups. Results:After intervention, scores of each item in CAM and the total scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before intervention (P<0.05), with the observation group showing lower scores than the control group (P<0.05). After intervention, the scores of SAS and HAMA in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before intervention (P<0.05), with the observation group showing lower scores than the control group (P<0.05). After intervention, the scores of all items in Miller Scale in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before intervention (P<0.05), with the observation group showing lower scores than the control group (P<0.05). After intervention,PSQI scores, including sleep quality, sleep efficiency, sleep disturbances, time to fall asleep, sleep duration and daytime functioning and total scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before intervention (P<0.05), with the observation group showing lower scores than the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion:Auricular point thumb-tack needling for patients with mental disorders following Voriconazole treatment for pulmonary infection can improve their mental status, anxiety, and hallucination symptoms, and enhance their sleep quality.
