Clinical Study on Treatment of Functional Ventricular Premature Beats Complicated with Anxiety of Yin Deficiency and Qi Stagnation Type with Modified Chaihu Shugan Powder Combined with Shengmai Powder
Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of modified Chaihu Shugan Powder combined with Shengmai Powder on the basis of conventional western medicine in the treatment of functional ventricular premature beats complicated with anxiety of yin deficiency and qi stagnation type. Methods: A total of 74 patients with functional ventricular premature beats complicated with anxiety of yin deficiency and qi stagnation type who were treated at Dongguan Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine from December 2022 to February 2024 were selected and divided into the trial group and the control group via a random number table method, with 37 patients in each group. The control group was treated with oral Metoprolol Succinate Sustained-Release Tablets, while the trial group was additionally treated with oral modified Chaihu Shugan Powder combined with Shengmai Powder on the basis of the control group. Both groups were treated for four weeks. Changes in 24-hour ambulatory electrocardiogram( ECG)(premature beat count, average heart rate), traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) syndrome scores, and Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) scores before and after treatment were observed, and the effects of ECG and TCM syndromes in both groups were evaluated. Results:After four weeks of treatment, the premature beat count in both groups was decreased when compared with that before treatment (P<0.05),and the decrease in the trial group was greater than that in the control group (P<0.05). The average heart rate in both groups was decreased when compared with that before treatment (P<0.05),there being no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). The total scores of TCM syndromes and SAS scores in both groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the decreases in the trial group were greater than those in the control group (P<0.05). The effects of ECG and TCM syndromes in the trial group were better than those in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: The addition of modified Chaihu Shugan Powder combined with Shengmai Powder on the basis of conventional western medicine for the treatment of functional ventricular premature beats complicated with anxiety of yin deficiency and qi stagnation type can improve clinical effect, effectively reduce the count of premature beats, improve TCM syndromes, and alleviate anxiety.
