Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of Chinese herbal tea combined with acupoint application on allergic rhinitis (AR) with lung qi deficiency-cold syndrome. Methods:A total of 158 cases of AR patients with lung qi deficiency-cold syndrome, treated at Wenzhou People´s Hospital from July 2022 to June 2023,were selected and divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method, with 79 cases in each group. Both groups received nasal irrigation and Mometasone Furoate Nasal Spray treatment;the control group was additionally treated with acupoint application, and the observation group was additionally treated with Chinese herbal tea in addition to the treatments given to the control group. Both groups were treated for 50 days. The clinical effects, traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) syndrome scores, Rhinoconjunctivitis Quality of Life Questionnaire (RQLQ) scores, levels of inflammatory factors [interleukin-4 (IL-4), interleukin-8 (IL-8), interferon- γ (IFN- γ)], recurrence rates, and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results:After treatment, the total effective rate was 89.87%( 71/79) in the observation group, higher than 78.48%( 62/79) in the control group, with a significant difference (P<0.05). TCM syndrome scores and RQLQ scores in the two groups were decreased compared to before treatment, and the scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, differences being significant (P<0.05). The levels of IL-4 and IL-8 in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment and the levels of IFN- γ were increased, differences being significant (P<0.05); the observation group had lower levels of IL-4 and IL-8 and higher IFN-γ level compared to the control group, differences being significant (P<0.05). During a one-year follow-up after treatment, the recurrences in the observation group (0.86±0.73) was lower than that in the control group (1.75±0.71), with a significant difference (P<0.05). During the treatment, the incidence of adverse reactions was 2.54% (2/79) in the observation group and 1.27% (1/79) in the control group, with no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion:The combination of Chinese herbal tea and acupoint application in the treatment of AR with lung qi deficiency-cold syndrome can improve the clinical effect, alleviate TCM syndromes, inhibit inflammatory responses, enhance quality of life, and reduce recurrences.
