Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of conception vessel-regulating and governor vesselunblocking acupuncture method combined with Metformin on insulin resistance in polycystic ovary syndrome （PCOS-IR） of phlegm-damp type. Methods：A total of 100 cases of PCOS-IR patients of phlegm-damp type who were treated in Shenzhen Maternity and Child Healthcare Hospital， Southern Medical University from December 2021 to June 2022 were selected and divided into the observation group and the control group，with 50 cases in each group，using a random number table method. The control group was orally treated with Metformin， and the observation group was treated with the conception vessel-regulating and governor vessel-unblocking acupuncture method in addition to the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for three menstrual cycles. Compared the clinical efficacy in the two groups， as well as changes in peripheral blood follicle stimulating hormone （FSH）， luteinizing hormone （LH）， testosterone（ T），LH/FSH，fasting insulin（ FINS），fasting blood glucose（ FBG），and insulin resistance（ HOMA-IR） levels before and after treatment. Results： The total effective rate was 98.00% （49/50） in the observation group， higher than that of 76.00% （38/50） in the control group，the difference being significant （P＜0.05）. After treatment， the levels of FINS，FBG，and HOMA-IR in the peripheral blood in both groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment（ P＜0.05），and the above indicators in the observation group were lower than those in the control group （P＜0.05）. After treatment， the levels of FSH， LH， T， and LH/FSH in the peripheral blood in both groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment （P＜0.05）， and the above indicators in the observation group were lower than those in the control group （P＜0.05）. Conclusion： The combination of conception vesselregulating and governor vessel-unblocking acupuncture method and Metformin has a definite therapeutic effect on patients with PCOS-IR of phlegm-damp type，which can effectively regulate sex hormone secretion and improve blood glucose and insulin resistance.
