Abstract:Migraine,a common and frequently occurring clinical condition,is characterized by recurrent attacks, a prolonged course, and refractory nature. It is closely align with the pathological features of turbid toxin gradual accumulation and gatherings, failure of transformation of stickiness and stagnation, lurking in the brain collaterals, and difficulty in clearing and resolving. By integrating the theories of turbid toxin and collateral diseases and starting from the theory of turbid toxin lurking in collaterals, this article proposes that the disease is rooted in the brain collaterals, with the key pathogenesis being internal accumulation of turbid toxin and stasis obstructing the brain collaterals. The treatment should adhere to the principles of removing turbidity and resolving toxins, and dissipating stasis and unblocking collaterals. A combined acupuncture approach of fire needling and penetrating at the Four Gates is recommended to mitigate migraine attacks and improve the quality of life of patients.
