Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Chinese medicine packages combined with Jinhuang Ointment application on insulin injection-related subcutaneous lipohypertrophy in diabetic mellitus patients. Methods: A total of 60 diabetic mellitus patients who developed subcutaneous lipohypertrophy after receiving subcutaneous insulin injections were selected from the Department of Endocrinology at the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine between March 2020 and July 2022. The patients were divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. The control group was treated with wet compressing with 33% Magnesium Sulfate, and the treatment group was treated with Chinese medicine packages combined with Jinhuang Ointment application. Both groups were treated for seven days. The area of subcutaneous lipohypertrophy before and after treatment as well as the clinical effects were compared between the two groups. Results: After treatment, the total effective rate was 93.33% (28/30) in the treatment group and 70.00% (21/30) in the control group, with a significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the area of subcutaneous lipohypertrophy between the two groups (P>0.05). After treatment, the area of subcutaneous lipohypertrophy in the two groups was significantly reduced when compared with that before treatment (P<0.05), and the delta value of subcutaneous lipohypertrophy area before and after treatment in the treatment group was greater than that in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion:The combination of Chinese medicine packages and Jinhuang Ointment application has a definite curative effect in treating insulin injectionrelated subcutaneous lipohypertrophy, which can significantly reduce the subcutaneous lipohypertrophy area, and is superior to wet compressing with Magnesium Sulfate.
