Abstract: Chinese Medicine posits that the development of metabolic syndrome (MS) is attributed to the imbalance of "yang transforming into qi and yin constituting form." This article elaborates on the understanding of this theory and analyzes MS as a condition characterized by root deficiency and branch excess. The root cause lies in the failure of the spleen to transport and the failure of clear yang to ascend, while the branch manifestations include the internal generation of yin pathogens such as phlegm-damp and static blood. The treatment primarily focuses on raising yang and fortifying the spleen, while also addressing the removal of yin pathogens. Depending on the predominance of phlegm-damp or static blood, the treatment is modified accordingly, flexibly employing methods such as dispelling dampness and directing the turbid downward, invigorating blood and unblocking collaterals. This approach provides a certain perspective for the treatment of MS.
