Abstract： This paper is to summarize the clinical experience of acupuncture for temporomandibular disorders based on dispersing Shaoyang theory. The temporomandibular disorders are caused by Shaoyang gallbladder and dysfunction of Shaoyang pivot mechanism and meridian qi，resulting in sluggish temporomandibular movement or pain. The time for acupuncture of “linggui bafa therapy” at Zulinqi （GB 41） point is chosen based on dispersing Shaoyang theory and the experience in acupoints combination， which unifies the time differentiation and syndrome differentiation，providing a new idea for the treatment of temporomandibular disorders with acupuncture.
