Clinical Study on Taiji Bagua Abdominal Massage Combined with Traditional She Medicine of Shiliangcha Essential Oil for Chronic Heart Failure of Dual Deficiency of Qi and Yin Type Complicated with Constipation
Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of the combination use of Taiji Bagua abdominal massage and traditional She medicine of Shiliangcha Essential Oil on chronic heart failure (CHF) of dual deficiency of qi and yin type complicated with constipation. Methods:A total of 210 CHF patients complicated with constipation who were treated in Lishui Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2020 to May 2024 were selected as the study subjects. According to the random number table method, they were divided into the conventional group, the Taiji Bagua abdominal massage group and the combination group,with 70 cases in each group. The conventional group was treated with medicines according to the guidelines. The Taiji Bagua abdominal massage group additionally received Taiji Bagua abdominal massage based on treatment of the conventional group. The combination group was additionally treated with traditional She medicine of Shiliangcha Essential Oil in addition to Taiji Bagua abdominal massage. With seven days being a course of treatment,there was a total of eight courses. The scores of Clinical Constipation Scale (CCS),Patient Assessment of Constipation Quality of Life (PAC-QOL) and the first defecation time were compared before and after treatment among the three groups;the levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and total cholesterol (TC) were detected. Results:After treatment,the first defecation time of the combination group was shorter than that of the conventional group and the Taiji Bagua abdominal massage group,with a statistically significant difference (P<0.05). After treatment,the scores of CCS and PAC-QOL in the three groups were reduced when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the above two scores in the combination group were lower than those in the conventional group and the Taiji Bagua abdominal massage group (P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of TC and LDL-C in the three groups were dwindled when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the above two levels in the combination group were lower than those in the conventional group and the Taiji Bagua abdominal massage group (P< 0.05). Conclusion: The combination use of Taiji Bagua abdominal massage and traditional She medicine of Shiliangcha Essential Oil can improve the constipation symptoms of CHF patients complicated with constipation, the quality of life and the level of blood lipid.
