Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of pressing moxibustion at Baihui (DU 20) combined with Valsartan on early-stage kidney damage in hypertension. Methods:A total of 90 cases of early-stage kidney damage in hypertension patients treated at the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine from September 2021 to October 2023 were selected and divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the random number table method, with 45 cases in each group. Both groups received lifestyle guidance; the control group was treated with Valsartan Capsules,and the treatment group was additionally treated with pressing moxibustion at Baihui (DU 20) based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for four weeks. The levels of urinary N-acetyl- β -D-glucosaminidase (NAG), urinary microalbumin, urinary β2-microglobulin (β2-MG), Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA) scores, Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) scores, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index( PSQI) scores,and blood pressure [systolic blood pressure( SBP) and diastolic blood pressure( DBP)] in the two groups were compared before and after treatment. Results: After treatment, the urinary NAG and urinary microalbumin levels in both groups were decreased when compared to those before treatment (P<0.05);the treatment group exhibited lower urinary NAG levels than the control group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in urinary microalbumin levels between the two groups (P>0.05). In the treatment group, urinary β2-MG levels were decreased when compared to those before treatment (P<0.05),whereas no significant differences were observed in the control group before and after treatment (P>0.05).Additionally,there was no significant difference in urinary β2-MG levels between the two groups (P>0.05). After treatment, HAMA scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),with the treatment group scoring lower than the control group (P< 0.05). There was no significant difference in HAMD scores before and after treatment (P>0.05) and there was no significant difference in HAMD scores between the two groups (P>0.05). In the treatment group, the scores of subjective sleep quality, sleep latency, sleep efficiency, sleep disturbances, sleep duration, use of hypnotic medications,and total scores were decreased when compared to those before treatment,and all scores were lower than those in the control group,differences being significant (P<0.05). In the control group,the scores of subjective sleep quality and use of hypnotic medications were decreased when compared to those before treatment (P<0.05),whereas no significant differences were observed in the scores of sleep latency, sleep efficiency, sleep disturbances, sleep duration, or total scores before and after treatment (P>0.05). For daytime dysfunction scores, no significant differences were found in the two groups before and after treatment or between the treatment and control groups (P> 0.05).Both groups showed a decrease in SBP and DBP when compared to those before treatment, with the treatment group showing a lower SBP than the control group (P<0.05);there was no significant difference in DBP between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion:Pressing moxibustion at Baihui (DU 20) combined with Valsartan for early-stage kidney damage in hypertension can improve kidney function damage, lower blood pressure, alleviate anxiety symptoms,and enhance sleep quality.
