Effect of Combination Use of Chinese Medicine Emotional Intervention and Thumb- Tack Needling for Subcutaneous Embedding on Cancer-Related Fatigue and Chemo⁃ therapy-Related Nausea and Vomiting in Patients Receiving Chemotherapy of Esopha⁃ geal Cancer
Abstract: Objective: To observe the effect of the combination use of Chinese medicine emotional intervention and thumb-tack needling for subcutaneous embedding on cancer-related fatigue and chemotherapy-related nausea and vomiting in patients receiving chemotherapy of esophageal cancer. Methods: A total of 110 patients undergoing chemotherapy of esophageal cancer admitted to Lishui Municipal Central Hospital from January 2023 to June 2024 were selected and divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method, with 55 cases in each group. The control group was intervened with conventional nursing intervention, and the observation group was treated with Chinese medicine emotional intervention combined with thumb-tack needling for subcutaneous embedding. The clinical effects and the degree of chemotherapy-related nausea and vomiting, and the changes of traditional Chinese medicine symptom scores, and scores of Revised Piper Fatigue Scale (RPFS) and Exercise of Self-Care Agency Scale (ESCA) before and after intervention were respectively compared between the two groups. Results: The total effective rate of chemotherapy-related nausea and vomiting was 96.36% (53/55) in the observation group, higher than 83.64% (46/55) of the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P< 0.05). After intervention, the total effective rate was 81.82%(45/55) in the observation group and 61.82% (34/55) in the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P<0.05). After intervention, the primary and secondary symptoms and the total scores of traditional Chinese medicine symptoms of the two groups were reduced when compared with those before intervention (P<0.05),and the primary and secondary symptoms and the total scores of traditional Chinese medicine symptoms of the observation group were lower than those of the control group (P<0.05). After intervention, the RPFS scores of behaviors and severity, emotion, sensation, cognitive function and emotional state of the two groups were dwindled when compared with those before intervention (P<0.05), and the above four RPFS scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group (P<0.05). After intervention, the ESCA scores of the two groups were elevated compared with those before intervention (P<0.05),and the ESCA score of the observation group was higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion:The combination use of Chinese medicine emotional intervention and thumb-tack needling for subcutaneous embedding has a good curative effect on patients receiving chemotherapy of esophageal cancer, which can reduce the incidence of cancer-related fatigue and chemotherapy-related nausea and vomiting, and improve self-management ability.
