Abstract:Objective:To analyze Professor HE Yingchun's medication prescriptions and strategies for treating insomnia using data mining technology. Methods:Medical records of insomnia patients from Professor HE's outpatient clinic at Hangzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine between August 2023 and February 2024 were collected. Information such as herbal use frequency, natures, flavors, and channel entries was organized via Excel to establish a database. SPSS software and the Apriori algorithm were applied for statistical analysis to identify medication rules. Results:A total of 133 prescriptions and 147 Chinese herbs were analyzed, with a cumulative frequency of 2 279 uses. A total of Chinese herbs were used over 40 times, with the top five being Poria, Jujubae Fructus, Cinnamomi Ramulus,Albiziae Cortex, and Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens. Analysis of the 147 Chinese herbs revealed that their natures were predominantly warm, cold, or neutral; flavors were mainly sweet, acrid, or bitter; and channel entries were the liver, spleen, lung, stomach, heart, and kidney channels. Cluster analysis identified five core herbal combinations:1) calcined Ostreae Concha, calcined Fossilia Ossis Mastodi,Fructus Tritici in Jianghuai Area, Scutellariae Radix, vinegar-processed Bupleuri Radix, Codonopsis Radix, Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Praeparata cum Melle,Jujubae Fructus,Cinnamomi Ramulus, and stir-fried Paeoniae Radix Alba;2) Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens,Pinelliae Rhizoma Praeparatum cum Zingibere et Alumine,Poria,Coptidis Rhizoma,Cinnamomi Cortex,ginger-processed Bambusae Caulis in Taenias,Albiziae Cortex, and Curcumae Radix;3) calcined Magnetitum and calcined Margaritifera Concha;4) Ziziphi Spinosae Semen Powder and Ganoderma;5) Mori Cortex. Conclusion: Professor HE's treatment of insomnia emphasizes from the pespective of the liver-spleen theory, focusing on supplementing deficiency and draining excess, harmonizing yin and yang, and addressing both the root and branch of the condition.
