Effect of Acupoint Application Combined with Auricular Point Seed-Pressing on Gastrointestinal Reactions Induced by Anti-Tuberculosis Medicines in Patients with Pulmonary Tuberculosis
Abstract:Objective:To observe the curative effect of acupoint application combined with auricular point seedpressing on gastrointestinal reactions induced by anti-tuberculosis medicines in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB). Methods: A total of 100 PTB patients experiencing gastrointestinal reactions due to antituberculosis medicines were selected and divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the random number table method, with 50 cases in each group. Ultimately, 49 cases in the treatment group and 48 cases in the control group completed the study. Both groups received conventional anti-tuberculosis treatment. The control group was additionally given western medicine, and the treatment group was additionally received acupoint application combined with auricular point seed-pressing in addition to the treatment given to the control group. After one treatment course, clinical effects in the two groups were evaluated;changes in traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores, nausea and vomiting, abdominal distension, and appetite grading before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results:The total effective rate was 95.92%( 47/49) in the treatment group and 83.33%( 40/48) in the control group, with a significant difference (P<0.05). After treatment, traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores for epigastric and abdominal stuffiness-fullness, nausea and vomiting, poor appetite, fatigue, and loose stools were decreased in the two groups (P<0.05), with the treatment group showing lower scores than the control group (P< 0.05). After treatment, the severity of nausea and vomiting was decreased in the two groups (P<0.05),with greater improvement in the treatment group (P<0.05). After treatment, the abdominal distension severity was decreased in the two groups( P<0.05),with greater improvement in the treatment group( P<0.05). After treatment, the degree of loss of appetite in the two groups was improved when compared with that before treatment (P<0.05),and the improvement in the treatment group was superior to that in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion:Acupoint application combined with auricular point seed-pressing has a good curative effect in treating gastrointestinal reactions in PTB patients, alleviating symptoms and reducing the severity of nausea, vomiting, abdominal distension, and appetite loss.
