Abstract: This article summarizes the acupuncture academic philosophy and clinical techniques centered on "yuan-nourishing and heart-cultivating" of Professor LAO Jinxiong,a renowned traditional Chinese medicine expert in Guangdong Province. Inheriting the classical theories of primordial qi cultivation and mind regulation,Professor LAO emphasizes that acupuncture should focus on reinforcing primordial qi and nourishing mental faculties throughout the diagnostic and therapeutic process. He innovatively proposed the "yuan-examining and point-locating" diagnostic method, utilizing the foot-taiyang-bladder channel and back-shu point as observation windows to identify primordial qi deficiency patterns and activate point areas through skin abnormality examination and meridian palpation. In clinical practice, the needle insertion employs a "heavy pressure-light flick" tube-assisted technique, simplifies the traditional "mountain-burning" method into a "two insertions-one twist" technique, and combines warm needle moxibustion with low-frequency electroacupuncture for synergistic effects. This approach significantly reduces patients' needling sensation and anxiety while achieving the therapeutic objectives of "reinforcing yang qi, unblocking channels and collaterals, and calming the mind and will". This acupuncture technique has been widely applied in deficiency syndromes, pain disorders, and psychosomatic conditions, demonstrating both profound traditional Chinese medicine theoretical foundations and modern clinical value, thereby providing important references for optimizing acupuncture treatment protocols.
