Abstract: Diabetic foot is a severe complication of diabetes, characterized by its chronicity and difficulty in healing, and can lead to amputation or even death in its terminal stage. This paper, based on the theory of "cold affecting in the evening" from Jin Gui Yao Lve (Essentials from the Golden Cabinet), proposes that the etiological factors of diabetic foot are related to the cold pathogen in nature. The pathogenesis lies in the cold pathogen injuring the nutrient qi,obstructing the blood vessels, and exacerbating during the winter, evening, and midnight when the cold pathogen is most prevalent. The treatment involves the use of Chinese medicinals of warming yang, dispersing cold, activating blood circulation to remove blood stasis, and harmonizing qi and blood. It addresses both the symptoms and the root cause, and provides early intervention for diabetic foot in a personalized and timely manner.
