Abstract:Objective:To analyze the medication rules of topical Chinese patent medicines for traumatic injuries registered with the National Medical Products Administration using data mining techniques. Methods:Topical Chinese patent medicines for traumatic injuries registered with the National Medical Products Administration (as of March 31, 2024) were selected. Excel 2010 was used to compile statistics on the frequency of use, efficacy, four qi,five flavors, and meridian entry of the included medicines. SPSS Modeler 18.0 was utilized for association rule analysis, Origin 2021 for cluster analysis , and Cytoscape 3.10.1 for creating complex network diagrams. Results : A total of 102 prescriptions for topical Chinese patent medicines were included, encompassing 330 medicines. The total frequency of use was 1 393 times, with 34 medicines used 11 times or more, including Borneolum Syntheticum, Camphor and Angelicae Sinensis Radix. The four qi were predominantly warm, the five flavors were mainly pungent, bitter, and sweet, and the meridian entries were primarily liver, spleen, heart, lung, and kidney. The strongest association was found between Olibanum and Myrrha. Cluster analysis identified six categories of medicines, and complex network analysis revealed a strong triangular link among Borneolum Syntheticum (Natural),Camphor and LMenthol; strong links were also observed between Olibanum and Myrrha, as well as Carthami Flos and Angelicae Sinensis Radix. Conclusion: The prescriptions of topical Chinese patent medicines for traumatic injuries primarily focus on opening orifices and reviving the spirit, and promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis. The core medicines are those that enhance transdermal absorption and promote blood circulation to remove blood stasis.
