Abstract:Abstract: This article introduces Professor YE Hai's clinical experience in treating acute discogenic low back pain. Professor YE posits that the pathogenesis of discogenic low back pain involves deficiency in origin and excess in superficiality. The deficiency in origin lies in kidney deficiency, while the excess superficiality arises from wind pathogens invading the collaterals, complicated with cold-damp impediment obstruction. He proposes the theory that "acute impediment cannot occur without wind." In clinical practice, while focusing on supplementing the kidney,he skillfully employs wind herbs to expel wind and alleviate pain, emphasizes regulating qi and blood movement to reinforce healthy qi and eliminate pathogens, and prioritizes protecting the spleen and stomach to preserve the foundation of acquired constitution. He developed Jingjie Zhitong Decoction for treating discogenic low back pain.
