Abstract： This article introduces Professor CHEN Guangxing's clinical experience in treating refractory rheumatoid arthritis based on the perspective of deficiency and blood stasis. Professor CHEN Guangxing believes that the etiology of refractory rheumatoid arthritis is primarily due to the deficiency of the viscera and the obstruction of phlegm and blood stasis in the collaterals. The treatment is based on the principle of tonifying deficiency and unblocking the collaterals， with a staged approach. For cases where the obstruction of the sinews and blood vessels is the main manifestation （excess syndrome）， the focus is on resolving phlegm， removing blood stasis， and relieving pain by unblocking the collaterals. For cases where the deficiency of the viscera is the main issue （deficiency syndrome），the focus is on regulating the viscera. In clinical practice， Professor CHEN has developed the Yishen Tongbi Decoction， which is used to supplement the kidney， expel wind， and unblock the collaterals， with additional syndrome differentiation and treatment.
